They looked upon the land which had once been fertile and full of hope. It was possible to hear the empty echoes of children laughing and see the ghosts still moving in a mockery of life. There was an unnatural silence to the land; it was a silence that had been created by the hand of man. The ruins smoldered with ash and life had been snuffed out.
